Honorable mentions: Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Front Mission, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Whatever else it may be, the story of gaming from 1995 to 2005 is often a story of 'rising floors,' not necessarily of rising ceilings. It has long been my view that the SNES library boasts an absolutely ridiculous Top-shelf of games, but doesn't have the depth or range of, say, the Playstation 2. (We snuck in our PSX farewell last Monday) Today we're saying goodbye to the only two remaining eras: the SNES / 4th-gen era, and the PS3 / 7th-gen era.
